Crystallization kinetics of Al2O3-26mol%Y2O3 glass and full crystallized transparent Y3Al5O12-based nanoceramic

Transparent Y3Al5O12-based polycrystalline ceramics with excessive Al2O3 composition (Al2O3-26 mol%Y2O3, AY26) have been demonstrated as potential host materials for phosphor applications. However, the crystallization mechanism of AY26 glass has not thoroughly investigated so far. In this work, non-isothermal kinetics was experimentally analyzed. The depicts high activation energy and volume nucleation followed by three-dimensional crystal growth mode. Based on analysis, a novel highly transparent YAG-Al2O3 nanoceramic material elaborated at lower temperature 963 ? using pressureless crystallization. biphase is characterized structure YAG nanocrystals surrounded homogeneous thin layers. It extremely from visible to mid-infrared region, particularly transmittance can reach theoretical limit ceramic in NIR MIR regions. Besides, it almost same hardness 21 GPa single ceramic.
